SCHELLING'S DRY CLEANERS REPUTATION SPEAKS FOR ITSELF
Schelling's is known, first and foremost, for what most clients call 'dry cleaning' services.
There is a misnomer in the market place about Dry Cleaning. Most people think this is done with a powder or 'dry' chemical. Schelling's dry cleaning is done using an environmentally friendly solvent called hydrocarbon. This gently and thoroughly washes your garments just like your washing machine. The difference is that many stains, obviously, cannot be removed by normal water machine washing, and the potential for shrinkage and color loss is substantial using water vs. solvents. Our hydrocarbon solvent is NOT perchloroehylene. Perc, which it's commonly known by, is classified as a hazardous air pollutant and is considered a probably or likely human carcinogen by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Schelling's has been using hydrocarbon cleaning since 1999 and is one of only a few cleaners in Spokane to do so. Ask your cleaner what they use and make the determination how you want your clothes cleaned.
Schelling's is the exclusive licensee in Spokane County for Sanitone products, i.e. both for wet and dry cleaning. This product is more costly than what the competition uses, but the outcome is noticeably better, and it is much gentler on your fine clothing than other industry products.
OUR CARE CLEANING INCLUDES:
Pre-inspection
*We check for tears, wearing, loose or missing buttons and mark for existing stains for pre spotting. Each garment is computer tagged for identification, logged in our exclusive computer software program and designated for whatever you want done and whatever the wear label requires. By the way, all of our computers are not tied to the internet, so it would be impossible for someone to hack into our system.
Spotting
*This is the most important position in the company. There are hundreds of different fabrics in the world today. Each has its own chemical makeup, and what is used is critical. The trained eye of the spotter has to fully understand which of twenty plus products to use on the garment and what degree of steam and vacuum is required. Again, we use Sanitone products.
Dry Cleaning
*Once the garments are ready for dry cleaning, they are sorted by color and fabric content and placed in the DC machine. To prevent oxygen from entering the drum, an extraction process starts and 90+% of oxygen is removed and refilled with nitrogen for the remaining process. This total process takes about one hour to complete from wash through dry cycles.
Minor Repairs
*Another thing that sets Schelling's apart is that we do complete our garments. Loose or missing buttons and loose hems are fixed at no cost. If there is a problem needing your evaluation, we simply call and ask your permission.
Finishing
*We have the best Finishers in Spokane. Remember, our job is not to just clean your clothes, our real job is to make you look and feel good. Seams and collars are perfectly pressed and all required creases are done properly. Wrinkles are eliminated.
Quality Control
*This is the final step. Once it gets here, our inspector does the final inspection and makes sure everything is as perfect as we can make it. Those tiny visual strings are removed and the article is surrounded in a poly envelope. In some cases, if people choose, we use our specialty Valet bag, which also covers the garments and acts as a duffel bag for bringing your soiled goods back to our store. *Ask about this convenient product for your use.
One last thing; we are one of a few that actually make your sweaters look better. Dry cleaning is only one step. Remember, our job is to make you look and feel good. Sweaters and materials that need special attention are combed and de-pilled to look as new as possible, and this is normally done at no additional charge.
