Environmentally Friendly Cleaners

While more than 80 percent of the dry cleaning industry in Spokane uses a cleaning solvent called perchloroethylene, which is under EPA scrutiny, Schelling's uses an environmentally friendly "hydrocarbon' solvent called DF-2000, exclusively. We are extremely sensitive toward what we do with our customer's clothing and even though it takes a little more time for the cleaning process, this solvent is what is best for everyone.

We recycle excess paper, cardboard, plastic bags and hangers when possible. Living in today's environment, it only makes sense to be responsible and not damage our ecosystem.

In 2005, Schelling's installed the most energy efficient hot water system available anywhere. We now recycle hot condensation steam returning to our gas boilers, and use that energy to heat our new hot water system. This means we turned off our old large tank, which was a major user of natural gas and producer of carbon monoxide.
